This vessel is made by heating a prepared patterned flat piece of thick glass over a donut shape elevated above the kiln floor. The unsupported centre of the glass slowly softens and slumps through the centre aperture over several hours forming the shape of the vessel. The supporting rim of the glass has to be removed and the top edge smoothed with diamond tools.
